Newman’s Own Foundation offers £150k for UK children’s charities

Newman’s Own Foundation, the charity set up by the late actor and philanthropist Pal Newman, will donate $200,000 (about £150,000) to registered UK charities that work to empower children.
So far the Foundation has donated over £4 million to UK charities.
This year’s funding programme was announced by comedian Harry Hill. He encouraged eligible UK charities to apply for grants from the foundation.
He visited Hackney Village, one of the recipients of the 2015 grants, to see how they had used their funding.

Grant applications can be submitted until Monday 5 September 2016. The grants will be announced on 21 November 2016.
Newman’s Own Foundation was established in 2005 by Paul Newman to sustain the legacy of his philanthropic work. Since 1982, Paul Newman and Newman’s Own Foundation have donated more than US$ 470 million (about £355 million) around the world.
Bob Forrester, President and CEO of Newman’s Own Foundation and a close friend of the late Paul Newman, said:
“We would like to encourage all charities which focus on empowerment programmes to submit a request for a grant during this campaign. We hope our funding can make a difference not only to empower but inspire, encourage and support children throughout the UK to overcome exceptional situations in order to build a better future”.
